Common Ground Collective: Catherine Day, Nikki Ferguson-Brown, Suzanne McDonnell, Kate McIntyre & Russell Perry
Come with us, into the dark: a place of dreams, imagination, connection, mystery, and wonder.
Common Ground Collective returns to the gallery that brought them together with Hello Darkness, an exhibition exploring the dark: the night sky, nocturnal creatures, dreams, and imagination, revisiting our relationships with the night. Featuring sculpture, watercolour, ink, and alternative photography, the exhibition emerges from the collaboration and conversation that characterise the group. Hello Darkness is also a celebration of Oxford, a town with spectacular night skies, an observatory, and a forest recently declared a Dark Sky Reserve.
We are honoured to be able to present an evening performance from Ariana Tikao, accompanied by Theo Henderson on double bass, who will weave a transfixing welcome to the night through taonga puoro music, waiata, and poetry. Ariana is a renowned practitioner and composer of taonga puoro, as well as a writer and poet.
